LED bulb buying guide. LED lighting is a new revaluation in electronics.  Present days it is used to illuminate almost everything from our homes to public spaces. These are more advanced in technology more flexibility in design, energy efficient in use, durable and low-maintenance since they do not have filaments or moving parts.

Here are some features to guide a LED bulb buyer:-

Base Configuration:
LEDs are available in both pin bases and Edison (“screw-in”) bases. You need to make sure you get the right bulb for your use.

The Efficiency of LED bulbs:
LED Bulbs use up to 90% less energy than a conventional bulb of equivalent brightness. LEDs are far more efficient at converting electricity, measured in watts, into the light, measured in lumens.

The lifespan of LEDs:
LEDs are having outstanding lifetime expectation due to very efficient thermal management. The LED Bulbs are designed to remove heat through heat sinks to help prolong the life expectancy. A LED bulb with thermal management should last up to 50,000 hours. Compared to conventional bulbs, LED lighting lasts longer.

Warm up time:
LEDs reach full brightness instantaneously on switching on, they need no warm-up time.

Are LED bulbs dimmable & no dimmable? Yes, LEDs are available in both dimmable and non-dimmable verities.

What is Lumens? The brightness of a bulb is measured in lumens. Lumens is the output, it is the measure of brightness. More lumens mean more brightness. Check the lumens /watt ratio on the bulb’s packaging to choose the most energy-efficient light bulb. The greater the lumens-to-watts ratio, the more energy efficiency the bulb is.

What about Luminous Flux?: Luminous flux is the efficiency of light energy emitted per second in all directions.  Luminous flux is nothing but the efficiency of light considering the distance perceptive. The bulb with more luminous flux will reach to the corners of the room very well.

Beam Angle: Beam angle means the angle at which the light is emitted. We need different beam angles for household and outdoor bulbs. For example for table lamps require very less beam angle whereas for an entire room we need higher beam angle bulbs. For an entire room beam angle must be around 80 – 100 degrees. LEDs lights are a straight beam in nature.  Diffusers are used to spread the light and to make it a wide angle light.

Price: LED bulbs are expensive than the conventional bulbs, but these will have a greater lifespan in the long run. LED bulb, can be a smart choice for saving money. It uses low watt also last longer also you no need to worry about maintenance.

Are they Environmentally safe? LED bulbs are mercury free. LEDs generate almost no heat or UV rays, which can help reduce air conditioning costs and help keep fabrics and furnishings from fading.

Warranty: Many LED bulbs come with a warranty covering replacement costs if the bulb malfunctions.

LED Bulbs Shapes and design: LED bulbs to come in different varieties of shapes and designs, including spotlights, floodlights, A-line and more.

Color: LED bulbs to come in a range of colors and shades like bright white, soft white (yellow-tinted), and daylight. For LED bulbs color is important to have comfortable lighting. Don’t confuse the color with red, yellow, blue. It is temperature color, what shade of white light do you prefer? Color Temperature is the shade of white light. Each shade is different for different mood and environment. You need to choose the right color as per your preference. For example, Cool daylight is good for reading and room lighting, Soft white is good for living rooms whereas bright white is good for kitchens and utility rooms.
